A Brief Summary of What I Found About Major Lies on Rhee’s Resume

Here is a VERY brief summary of what I’ve found out about Michelle Rhee’s claims on her resume:

1. Rhee’s claims of receiving “acclaim” for her practices in major news outlets at the time are unfounded. In some cases, there is no evidence of any article whatsoever (e.g., Wall Street Journal); in other cases (Hartford Courant) there is no way the article can be read as “acclaim”.

2. Her claims of absolutely unprecedented, jaw-dropping, spectacular gains in test scores by her students are unfounded and do not show up at all in the data. (Note: She has repeated those claims many, many times; one of the most recent claims being in an interview a couple of months ago with Harry Jaffe in the Washingtonian Magazine, so this was not a one-time typographical error when she was hurriedly typing up her resume)

Conclusion:

Either Rhee is too stupid to know the difference between the truth and its opposite (and doesn’t understand statistics at all), or she’s a bald-faced, perennial liar who has fooled lots and lots of people with those lies.

    Rhee defender , Chris Smyr, is quiet of this fabrication.

      Of course. Also: the articles and so on, on her resume, that supposedly demonstrate that the #1 problem with urban education is the mere existence of teacher unions, weren’t written by her at all; and many of them state nothing of the kind.
