Another Good Post from Marion Brady

One quote:

“the communication problem between the managers who think mere telling teaches, and educators who know from hard experience that it doesn’t, isn’t likely to disappear anytime soon.”

It’s at Valerie Strauss’ blog at the Washington Post.

  1. I’m hoping schools will be turned over to teachers and managed by “principal teachers” or “head teachers.” Evaluation would be done by peer review with the head teacher as part of the review team. The head teacher would serve at the pleasure of the faculty who would vote to grant tenure. In this way, teachers will become fully empowered to exercise full professional judgment and the divisions between management and teachers will be eliminated. Unions would then morph into professional associations, similar to what other professionals have.
