More Research (not by me): Paying Teachers to Raise Test Scores Doesn’t Work

Parents Across America has put together a summary of research on the question of pay-for-performance for teachers. The article has links to the original studies so you can examine them yourself.

The bottom line is that tying teacher pay to student test scores doesn’t work, even on its own terms.

(It also demoralizes and corrupts both teachers and students, but that’s just my opinion, not research-based evidence.)
