Authors of the Report that was submitted to the DC Auditors office

I was sloppy in attributing that recent report to the DC Auditor’s report; instead, it was submitted to the DC Auditor by an outside group called EdCORE, and it’s their first report.

Here are the details:

“EdCORE is a consortium led by the Graduate School of Education and Human Development of the George Washington University in partnership with American Institutes for Research (AIR), Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. (MPR), Policy Studies Associates (PSA), Quill ResearchAssociates, andRAND. EdCORE was established in 2012, in response to the National Research Council’s recommendation for a sustainable program of independent research and evaluation.  Our mission is to provide objective and reliable evidence to inform continuous improvement of public education, at all levels, in the District of Columbia.”
The authors/contributors were NOT in the DC Auditor’s office as I implied. They are:
From the Policy Studies Associates: Erikson Arcaira, Stephen Coleman, Jaclyn MacFarlane, Andrea Palmiter, and Brenda Turnbull.
From the American Institutes for Research: Beatrice Birman, Erin Dunlop, Jane Hannaway, amd Umut Ozek.
From Mathematica Policy Research: Steve Glazerman and Elias Walsh.
From the George Washington University: Michael Feuer, Maxine Freund, and Taunya Nesin.

  1. I would not trust anything RAND is involved in concerning education. Don’t know about the rest of them. Once I see their work I will know. D.C. is an open book on corruption. How do you have $29,145/student and mess up? You have to try real hard is the answer.
